I don’t know why it took me so long to get around to reading this book! It’s been on my “To Be Read” list for quite awhile – it was published a year and a half ago. Why did I keep putting off reading it? Maybe because I thought it was just another psychological domestic thriller and I think I may have over dosed on those a little. I didn’t want to read another one. But boy, was I wrong. I mean, it is a domestic thriller, but unlike anything I’ve read. It’s original; it’s addictive; it’s edge-of-your-seat tense, and I was glued to the pages from start to finish.
I didn’t know anything about the plot going in, and I am so happy I didn’t. You can tell by the title it’s a domestic thriller, but this one is truly best if you go into it blind. So no rehashing of the plot here. I used to think it was a bit of a cop out when reviewers claimed to not want to spoil the plot, so they didn’t write about it, but I understand that now! The book threw me for a loop in the best possible way, and I want that same experience for you!
I will add that I felt it was realistic. Every time I found myself asking “couldn’t she have done this”, the author answered that question for me. That was important for me. I’m not big on reading about unrealistic scenarios that have no plausibility, but the fact that I could see this actually happening and the author answered all my questions, made it all the more chilling for me.
While not a sequel, the author does have two other books – The Breakdown which came out in 2017, and Bring Me Back comes out in 2018. I included Bring Me Back in my Most Anticipated Reads of 2018 post.
